As I sit here in one of my favorite coffee shops I can’t help but over hear the conversations of others in the shop. I must admit, and honestly I think you should too, that one of the things that makes a coffee shop interesting is the people in it. Living in Lubbock, Texas, you get used to religious talk happening in these places that are basically early day bars for Christians.
So as I type this I am over hearing the conversation, and these guys are talking about their church etc. etc. and oh my gosh please do not get me wrong I am completely okay with this, but here is what I realized. What bothers me is the complication of trivial matters.
Example (Not from this convo). Someone is having such a hard time staying pure and she has been with her boyfriend with 3 years. The solution is simple, purity is a myth. If you wish to have sexual intercourse, and you are both consenting adults, no one is stopping you just do it.
What the problem is, is that they waste all this philosophical discussion on things that are absolutely trivial, when they could use it on discussion of topics that are actually philosophically difficult to answer.
Just a little observation i felt needed writing down.
